Asif H. Anwar, MD
Dr. Asif Anwar is a highly experienced cardiologist with extensive training and expertise in general cardiology, cardiac imaging, diagnostic invasive cardiology, and the management of complex cardiovascular conditions. Fluent in French, English, and Urdu, with additional proficiency in German and Portuguese, Dr. Anwar is able to care for a diverse patient population with compassion and cultural sensitivity.
Dr. Anwar completed his medical degree at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, followed by advanced training across several internationally recognized institutions. His post-graduate training includes an Internal Medicine Fellowship at Geneva University Cantonal Hospital, an Internal Medicine Residency at Hôpital d’Aigle in Switzerland, and additional fellowships in Internal Medicine and CCU at Saint-Luc Hospital, University Catholic of Louvain in Brussels, Belgium. He further pursued specialized cardiology training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed an Invasive Cardiology Fellowship at Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland.
Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Anwar’s clinical interests include coronary artery disease, echocardiography, heart failure, and vascular biology. His expertise in both non-invasive and invasive diagnostic techniques allows him to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Patrice Delafontaine, MD
Dr. Patrice “Patrick” Delafontaine is an accomplished cardiologist with extensive clinical, academic, and research experience in general cardiology and acute cardiac care. Fluent in English, French, and Italian, Dr. Delafontaine brings a global perspective and deep clinical expertise to his patients.
He completed his medical degree, doctorate in medicine, and Bachelor of Science at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, followed by residency training at the University Cantonal Hospital in Switzerland. Dr. Delafontaine continued his internal medicine residency at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed a Cardiovascular Diseases Clinical and Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Delafontaine’s clinical expertise includes coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and valvular heart disease. His academic accomplishments include over 175 peer-reviewed publications and numerous invited papers and book chapters. His research focuses on vascular biology, coronary atherosclerosis, and mechanisms of muscle wasting in chronic disease.
Dr. Delafontaine has received numerous honors throughout his career, including continuous recognition in Best Doctors in America® since 2001 and election to several prestigious professional societies such as the American Society of Clinical Investigation, Association of American Physicians, American Clinical and Climatological Association, and Association of University Cardiologists. He is also a recipient of the Tinsley Harrison Award from the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation.
Robert Hendel, MD
Dr. Robert Hendel is a nationally recognized cardiologist with extensive expertise in general cardiology, acute cardiac care, and advanced cardiac imaging. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiac Computed Tomography, bringing a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Hendel earned his BA and MS degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Northwestern University and went on to complete both his Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship and Nuclear Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
With clinical expertise that includes coronary artery disease, cardiac imaging, and acute cardiac care, Dr. Hendel is a leader in the field of non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics. His academic career includes over 200 peer-reviewed publications, and he is widely regarded for his contributions to nuclear cardiology and cardiac imaging.
Dr. Hendel has been honored with numerous awards, including the Hermann L. Blumgart, MD Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine for outstanding contributions to nuclear cardiology, the Mario S. Verani Memorial Lectureship from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and repeated recognition in Best Doctors in America and New Orleans Magazine’s Best Doctors. He was also named a Health Care Hero by New Orleans CityBusiness in 2018.
Aaron Sweeney, MD
Dr. Aaron Sweeney is a board-certified cardiologist with expertise in general cardiology, cardiac imaging, and the management of complex cardiovascular conditions. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, with additional certifications in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (Cardiac CT).
Dr. Sweeney earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by his Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
His areas of clinical expertise include coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and preventive cardiology. With advanced training in non-invasive imaging, Dr. Sweeney utilizes a full range of diagnostic tools to deliver precise evaluation and comprehensive cardiovascular care.

Bassam Wanna, MD
Dr. Bassam Wanna is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in cardiac electrophysiology and the management of complex heart rhythm disorders. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Cardiac Electrophysiology, offering advanced expertise in both diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Wanna earned his BS and MD degrees from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, followed by a Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then pursued advanced training in Cardiac Electrophysiology through fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
Dr. Wanna’s clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and management of heart arrhythmias, ablation procedures to correct rhythm disturbances, evaluation of syncope, and the implantation, management, and extraction of pacemakers and defibrillators. His comprehensive training allows him to offer individualized care using the latest technologies and techniques in heart rhythm management.
He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and has been recognized for his academic and clinical excellence throughout his career.
